Rev. Morgan Henley “Buddy” Biggs
Rev. Morgan Henley “Buddy” Biggs, age 78, Knoxville, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2013, after a long and fulfilled life. Between mentoring the youth of four decades and ministering to a host of churches, Morgan’s presence and guidance will be missed by many. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Courtney Biggs; father, Morgan C. Biggs; mother, Ovella Henley Biggs; sister, Mary Biggs Hicks; and father and mother-in-law, Hubert and Beulah Courtney. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Huellen and Ronnie Dillinger, Bronwyn and Brown Rudder; grandchildren, Zachary and Courtney Dillinger, and Lucy Rudder, all of Knoxville; brothers-in-law and wives, Daniel and Kathy Courtney, Loomis, Calif., David and Jeannine Courtney, Knoxville; multiple nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins; very special friends, Jim and Barbara Kincaid and Mary Babelay. Morgan was born in Charleston, Tenn. Raised in Maryville, he graduated Maryville High and Maryville College. He then graduated from Louisville Presbyterian Seminary and later received his master’s degree from University of Tennessee. He retired from Knoxville/Knox County school system and Presbyterian ministry after 40 years of service. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2013, at New Providence Presbyterian Church, 703 West Broadway, Maryville, Rev. Judd Shaw and Rev. Emily Anderson officiating. Family will receive friends immediately after service. In lieu of flowers, Morgan wished donations be made to your church or favorite charity.
