Sammy Jerry Griffin
Sammy Jerry Griffin, age 64, of Maryville, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2013, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eva Hurst and Monroe Schultz; brother, Charles Schultz; sister, May Lloyd; and brother-in-law, Earl Bogle. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Wanda Wright Griffin; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Harold and Anita Bishop; daughters, Alicia Green and Pamela Ridenour; grandchildren and spouses, Susie Overholt, April and Richard Whaley, Jamie Green and lifetime partner Audrey Beasley, Shaland Ridenour, and Timothy and Sara Ridenour; great-grandchildren, Sarah Pennington, Amanda Pennington, Zack Whaley, Nickki Whaley, Taylor Grace Penny, Ella Shay Whaley, and Lennox Ridenour; great-great-grandchild, Alyssa Chambers; foster daughter, Krissy Downs and her children, Ishad and Bubba; sister, Lois Bogle; brother, Pleaz Schultz; former son-in-law, Mike Ridenour; and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Blount Memorial Hospice team and special friends, Bernice McAfee and Maxine and Buddy Hunt. Family and friends will gather at noon Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for the graveside service and interment, Rev. Jerry Scott officiating.
