Shirley Mae Gates
Shirley Mae Gates, age 85, of Maryville, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2013, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was an officer in the Salvation Army and retired from General Electric. Shirley moved to Tennessee in 1981. She was a member of First Church of Nazarene. Preceded in death by parents, Russell and Emma Gates. Survivors include sister and brother-in-law, Betty Marie and Mike Michael; nephew, Charles Smith; niece, Cara Smith; great-nieces, Jackque Monje, Laura Ingram, Keith Harper, and Carrie Severson. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 21, 2013, at Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Raymond Couey officiating. Family and friends will assemble following the service at Grandview Cemetery for the interment. Family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Thursday, February 21, 2013, at Smith Trinity Chapel.
