Elections emphasize need for compromise among those elected

There is no need to discuss all the many issues on which the members of both major political parties disagree.

There is one central issue which applies nationwide, whether in Washington or Nashville, residents of America want and need resolution of many problems, not by a Republican or Democrat majority but through a negotiated effort encompassing the best of views from both sides.

We would hope that every elected official, whether in the state, Congress or the White House, will have enough common sense to realize the future of America is seriously at stake.

We will lose the nation we love if we continue down the polarized road of recent years.

Its out of the voters’ hands now.

Those elected or re-elected should be smart enough to realize the seriousness of our national problems and the urgent need to take corrective action.

It’s not about re-election in two or four years or a permanent retirement from Congress or paying back political friends.

It is time for every elected official to do all he or she can do to save our nation from bankruptcy.

We appeal to the ethical conscience of each officeholder.
