Stand Up and Live United Way; time is fast running out

As of this writing, we are $136,206 short of our $1.96 million goal for the current campaign for the United Way of Blount County.

We have raised 93 percent or $1,823,794.

A victory celebration is scheduled for noon Friday at Maryville First United Methodist Church. The meal is paid for by individuals and businesses who gave extra especially so the victory celebration lunch could be held for workers.

Blount County has a long reputation of making its goal. To fail to do so before the Victory Luncheon would be like going to a wedding without the bride!

A donation impacts the lives of more than 50,000 Blount residents.

United Way funds 56 programs run by 31 different local nonprofit agencies. Programs are constantly monitored to show fiscal responsibility. United Way of Blount County received the 2012 Blount Partnership Excellence Award for Nonprofit Organizations.

Established 58 years ago in 1954, the Blount County United Way has become the major nonprofit organization serving the 123,000 residents inside our borders. We have added payroll deduction which has been a major asset.

Hundreds of you have been out there working, and thousands have signed pledges. We feel that when all the pledges and donations are in we will make the goal, but it is never too late to do an extra little bit to remove any doubt of victory.

Donations can be made by calling 982-2251 or at the office at 1615 E. Broadway Ave., Maryville, which is at Five Point.

We are so close and let’s not run the risk of failure. It is a time we need to continue setting a very positive example in Blount County!
