New seasons, rules released

The 2013-14 Tennessee hunting seasons are set; the Hunting Guide is published and delivered and it is also available online at http://tnwildlife.org . The big change this year is how big game can be checked in: At checking stations as before, on the Internet at http://tnwildlife.org and on the new mobile app at http://gotwra.org . Check it out in the Guide on page 21 (and page 15).
Some other changes this year: Deer hunters will get more harvest opportunities as numerous counties in Units A and B get an increase in antlerless quotas; and Crockett County moves to Unit L. The main bear gun season will open on Nov. 29, the day after Thanksgiving Day; the other bear segments are unchanged. The fall turkey season will now include the counties of Roane, Meigs and Rhea, with a bag limit of one. Quail hunting will end on Jan. 15 in the wildlife management areas open for it. See the complete list of changes on page 4 of the Guide.
Here is the general summary of the 2013-2014 hunting season dates and bag limits for small game, trapping and deer. The list of bear seasons will follow soon. See the Guide for special restrictions, permits, limits and open/close times. The Guide is in effect Aug. 1 – July 31.
