Bridge opens Culton Creek wetlands

Dear Editor;

I am responding to your “opinion” article about the Alcoa bridge to “nowhere.”

At the end of that bridge is a trail through the Culton Creek wetlands.

That bridge gives all the Maryville people a way to visit one of the most beautiful trails on the Greenway.

With the beautiful bridges, the birds, frogs, and trees, this is a true “gem” given to us by the Alcoa city public workers.

What a wonderful gift!

(Editor’s note: The Times editorial did not refer to it as a bridge to “nowhere” but noted that was a comment from out-of-county media. The Daily Times has strongly supported full completion of the Greenway since the days in the 1980s when it began in Maryville. The Greenway is one of the finest area projects.)
