CAPPE marks its 10th anniversary

Dear Editor:

On Sunday, Oct. 28, CAPPE (Citizens Against the Pellissippi Parkway Extension) recognized our l0th anniversary with a Rural Preservation Celebration at Smithview Pavilion.

We want to express our gratitude to all the businesses, members and individuals that supported our anniversary by donating goods and services.

Despite the weather, we welcomed old and new supporters to an afternoon of fun activities including a cake walk and donut-eating contest, silent and live auctions, and a performance by Jay Clark.

CAPPE continues to advocate for responsible transportation planning in our region and for using our limited transportation funds on projects that address real needs.

The proposed Pellissippi Parkway extension is still undergoing a required planning process and has not been approved or funded.

Readers who want to know how TDOT’s own analysis shows the PPE won’t help Blount County’s transportation problems can contact CAPPE at (cappe@discoveret.org)

Sincerely,

Mike Cook, President

CAPPE Board of Directors
