Different weapons used in killing

Dear Editor:

Shortly after receiving the news about the horrific massacre at the elementary school in Connecticut, the president displayed emotion and expressed his grief over the 20 precious children (and adults) who died such a senseless death at the hands of a crazed gunman.

He mourned the fact that they will never grow up, graduate, get married, or have children of their own.

I commend Mr. Obama for his sensitivity. Millions of us shared his tears.

But for perspective, since January of 1973, nearly 60 million precious children have been stripped of their right to live, laugh and love, and he says nothing. In fact, he refers to them as a “punishment” in the event of an unplanned or unwanted pregnancy and supports laws which protect those who choose to murder them.

In all fairness, shouldn’t he be just as concerned about limiting access to abortion clinics as what he is about limiting access to guns? Same crime . . . different weapon. Think about it.

Sincerely yours,

Shirlisa Harris
