Jack Greene’s life in Blount recalled
Blount County recently lost one of its most well-known people that I can remember in Jack Greene, who was known all over. I would like to know just how many hit songs he sang.
Jack served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Jack was a great entertainer and gentleman to be proud to have known.
He was reared only a few blocks from my dear, late Fay. In fact, she and I went to his parents 50th wedding anniversary — Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Greene. Fay also graduated from Everett High School with one of his sisters, Evelyn. Her funeral was the last time I saw Jack.
I attended his memorial service at a nearby mortuary last Saturday.
When I heard another memorial service was going to be held at the Ryman Auditorium on March 27, I decided to listen to it on line on WSM.
It was a very well-attended and impressive service.
As we get older, we must enjoy life to its fullest because we never know when our number will be called.
