Our nation’s freedom may decline more
Dear Editor:
Recently, President Obama made one of his most astounding statements ever. He said that when anyone runs for president he knows that his life will become an open book. Really? This from a man who reportedly has spent millions to keep his past, including his college application and grades and his health records shrouded in secrecy. One wonders just what there is in his past that he believes so damaging that he would spend all this money to keep us from finding out about it.
Candidate Obama stated that he wanted to transform America. After four years, we know that he meant government control of every aspect of our lives from what we eat to how much money we can earn and how much of that he can confiscate and “spread around.”
He obviously has utter contempt for our constitution and has expressed his frustration with its constraints. He has been very successful at circumventing it, the courts and the Congress. Just look at his seizure of General Motors from its rightful owners and at a cost to us taxpayers of over $30 million, giving much of it to the auto unions; his refusal to drill for oil in the Gulf after a federal judge ordered it; and his granting amnesty to millions of young illegals when Congress refused to do so.
If Obama is re-elected, I believe that he will govern even more by executive order, taking away our freedoms one by one. We used to be the freest country in the world but are now only seventh. If Obama is re-elected, I fear for how far down we will go.
Sincerely,
