Reader challenges written statements
Lorene Mason’s letter (March 10) shows the strength of American democracy in which people are entitled to their own opinions. But they are not entitled to their own version of facts.
Mason’s letter has many factual errors on the way to accusing the Obama administration of being “heathen” and “Soviet.” On the Affordable Care Act (ACA): It was not “forced” but was passed by Congress; it will not “kill off the elderly” despite what Sarah Palin said. Rather, the ACA will do what its name says, make health care more affordable for more people.
And, it simply will not “kill” seniors.
Can we please lay these sorts of wrong thinking to rest, along with the false notions of the president being a foreign-born Muslim Socialist?
In fact he is an American-born Christian who guides his party to the middle of the road, like President Clinton did (examples that Republican leaders might follow).
