Reader praises Truman presidency
From what I’ve been able to find out, there are more than 23 million unemployed, underemployed or stopped looking for work. The result, the median household income is down by $4,300, resulting in 15 million more people on food stamps.
Every year our president has put our nation deeper in debt over $1 trillion, and for his first two years he had total control of both the Senate and the House of Representatives.
I remember the leader in the House when it passed one huge spending bill before it had been read by anyone said, “We had to pass it so we could see what was in it.” That was the brilliant Rep. Nancy Pelosi, Democrat of California.
I am a big fan of President Harry Truman, but today’s Democrats are so far to the left of him that he would be a conservative today. Socialist programs were initiated by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt which didn’t pull us out of the Great Depression, production for WWII did.
Both Roosevelt and Truman were wise in dealing with foreign powers who would like to defeat us, but this president’s weakness has caused flair-ups all across North Africa and the Near East. Weakness invites our enemies to attack!
So our President Obama sent Hillary Clinton shortly after election to China to borrow a ton of money. China is only one of the countries we owe money to but they are our biggest lender. Maybe that will keep us safe from them, but they aren’t a real friend of the U.S. He also bows to a Near Eastern monarch, which only demeans the U.S. Can you imagine Harry S. Truman doing that?
Truman is the president who shortly after coming to office wrote a note to a music critic who berated his daughter’s piano playing in a New York performance and called him an S.O.B. I’m sure that must mean Sorry Old Boy.
