Reader questions candidate statements
Dear Editor:
A disclaimer: I live in Sen. Overbey’s neighborhood, and support his political aspirations.
With interest, I’ve been reading The Daily Times articles dealing with Mr. Hughes’ accusations against Sen. Overbey. The articles compare charges with fact. Mr. Hughes appears time and again to be incorrect, or to be selectively overreaching. Sen. Overbey tells “the rest of the story.”
Blount County has been well-served by Sen. Overbey, and with his re-election, will continue to be well-served. Mr. Hughes presents a political naivety, and an unattractive propensity for overreach. Sen. Overbey has served with integrity and provided responsiveness to his constituents. His recent work regarding young people in foster care is highly commendable.
My vote is an easy one.
