Sidewalk beer sales questioned

Dear Editor:

I have just finished reading the letter from Spencer Garner, stating that Maryville will be going “backward” if their plans for allowing beer sales on city sidewalks are carried out. I completely agree with Mr. Garner. I have been concerned about this since first mention was made in The Daily Times.

Apparently, none of the officials have ever been a victim of alcohol abuse, or lost a family member who was struck by a drunk driver, or known friends and neighbors who have endured these conditions. My mother said years later, after the loss of my brother, that “you don’t get over the loss of a child.”

I encourage the officials to do as Mr. Garner suggested, ask God for wisdom. He sees all, and is ready to listen and guide, Forward!

Sincerely,

Helen Cunningham
