Silence in the face of evil is itself evil
Dear Editor:
Dietrich Bonhoeffer said, “Silence in the face of evil is itself evil.” Christians should not be silent about the devastating harm to women caused by abortion nor about the wonderful forgiveness and healing God offers to post-abortive women.
Fairview United Methodist Church is to be congratulated for supporting the pro-life work done for pregnant women by the Blount County Pregnancy Resource Center (BCPRC). The church recently raised over $5,100 for the center through the Baby Bottle Collection program. The phone number for the BCPRC is 977-8378. They provide crisis counseling, pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, post-abortion counseling, and much more.
If one thinks that human life begins at conception and that abortion is killing a human being, there is much they can do to demonstrate that they are “pro-life.” Indicators in our lives bear witness to what is important to us. UT sports fans show their support in clear ways. Actions by Christians bear witness to their commitment to Christ. A true pro-life person will have indicators to said proclamation. They realize they cannot say, “There is nothing I can do.”
They can support the PRC financially; purchase and display a Choose Life car license plate; educate contacts on fact that baby in the womb is not “just a blob of tissue;” share fetal development facts; contact congressmen and women about legislation supporting life in the womb; display pro-life bumper stickers; explain to contacts that abortion for rape and incest is still murder; participate and encourage others to participate in the annual Life Chain, Walk for Life, and Celebration of Life Services; share that Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider in America; share that Obama administration gives millions of taxpayer dollars to PP; write pro-life letters to editors; and support Blount County Right to Life. Now ask yourself, “Am I really pro-life?”
