Dear Editor:

I believe that most Blount Countians are aware of the wonderful people who have grown up in or moved to this area. There may be other places where people are as nice. However, I doubt if there is any place where the people are any nicer.

My wife recently had a rather serious automobile accident. Almost immediately four ladies came to her aid. One put a very nice blanket on her for comfort. We would like to return the blanket, however, we have no names.

The Rural/Metro Ambulance Service, Maryville police and firemen were at the scene in a matter of minutes, had the area safely controlled and the injured moved by ambulance. My wife was well taken care of by the friendly professional medical personnel at Blount Memorial Hospital Emergency Department.

I have experienced similar response by the employees of the Blount County Sheriff’s Department and the various utilities employees in accidents and power outages near my home. Often they respond in severe weather conditions.

It’s nice to be able to thank a few of the folks that make Blount County a very special place to live.
