Arrests

* Curtis Jacob Renfro, 30, Huffs Ferry Road, Lenoir City, was transferred from the Knox County Jail to the Blount County Jail at 12:55 a.m. Feb. 22 to face two counts of contempt of court and bond copies, bonding company removal from responsibility, on prior charges of theft of property and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was being held in lieu of new bonds totaling $1,500 and prior bonds totaling $2,000 pending a 1:30 p.m. Feb. 27 hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court.

* Timothy Drew Pedigo, 23, Poplar Street, Alcoa, was arrested by Blount County Sheriff"s deputies at 2:15 p.m. Feb. 22 on a charge of violation of probation granted in a felony conviction. He was being held without bond pending further court action.

* William Brian Self, 28, North Wright Road, Alcoa, was arrested by Blount County Sheriff's deputies at 6:50 p.m. Feb. 22 on a charge of hindering secured creditors. He was free on a $1,500 bond pending 1:30 p.m. March 1 hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court.

* Joshua Glenn Ray Coggin, 23, Happy Valley Road, Tallassee, was arrested by Blount County Sheriff's deputies at 4:01 a.m. Feb. 23 on charges of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and sale of a Schedule VI controlled substance; he was free on bonds totaling $2,000 pending a 9 a.m. March 4 hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court.

* Dominique Duequinn Woods, 23, West Fulton Street, Alcoa, was arrested by Alcoa police officers at 4:02 a.m. Feb. 23 on charges of theft by possession and carrying a weapon for the purpose of going armed. According to an officer's report, the officer responded to a loud music complaint and found Woods and two others in a parked car with the radio playing. When Woods got out of the vehicle, a small silver handgun fell out of his pants. A check determined the weapon was reported stolen by Todd E. Eddy, Caroline Court, Louisville. Woods was free on bonds totaling $2,000 pending a 9 a.m. March 2 hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court.

* Matthew Grayson Muncy, 24, Pinewood Drive, Maryville, was arrested by Blount County Sheriff's deputies at 11:40 a.m. Feb. 23 on a charge of theft of property. He was free on a $1,000 bond pending a 1:30 p.m. March 1 hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court.

* Scotty D. Key, 27, Kendra Drive, Louisville, was cited by Maryville police officers on a charge of theft at 10 a.m. Feb. 23 for allegedly attempting to shoplift boxes of connectors and box of AC Power Block valued at $379.98 from Home Depot, 943 Foothills Mall Drive, Maryville. He is to appear at 9 a.m. Feb. 28 in Blount County General Sessions Court.

Thefts

Alcoa

* Gail P. Reynolds, Pink Hatcher Lane, Louisville, reported at 3:45 p.m. Feb. 22, theft of a diaper bag containing her wallet, left in a shopping cart at Wal-Mart, Hunters Crossing Drive, Alcoa, and missing when she returned to retrieve it.

* Cherub R. Seargeant, LaFollette, reported at 6:35 p.m. Feb. 22, that someone broke the passenger side window of her vehicle, then took her purse and a purse belonging to Michelle W. Williams, Caryville. The incident occurred at 4726 Alcoa Highway. Also taken was a CD case containing more than 100 CDs.

* Bonnie E. Rogers, Valley Breeze Circle, Maryville, reported at 7:09 p.m. Feb. 22, that the passenger side window of her vehicle was broken and her purse taken. The incident occurred at 4726 Alcoa Highway.

* Christine Patterson, Garner Circle, Maryville, reported at 8:40 p.m. Feb. 22, that the passenger-side window in her vehicle was broken and her purse taken. The incident occurred at RJ's Courtyard, 3749 Alcoa Highway, Alcoa. Also taken was a portable CD player.

* Twin City Mazda, 3046 Alcoa Highway, Alcoa, reported at 12:32 p.m. Feb. 23, that a red Chevrolet Silverado with extended cab and valued at $23,000 was discovered missing during inventory.

Blount County

* Jason S. Wright, Wildwood Road, Maryville, reported at 10:14 a.m. Feb. 22 that his wife saw two males in a truck stop at their residence and steal a ladder valued at $75.

* Christie D. Wilson, Lowes Ferry Road, Louisville, reported at 3:44 p.m. Feb. 22 that two television sets and two DVD players valued at $475 had been stolen from her residence.

* Wanda F. Gold, Oakes Vista Lane, Seymour, reported at 5:26 p.m. Feb. 22 that a family member took her television and computer valued at $1,080 and sold them or exchanged them for drugs in Knoxville, according to the police report. The man admitted stealing the items and said he could not retrieve them. Gold did not want to prosecute the man.

* Kyle R. McLemore, Cleason Drive, Maryville, reported at 7 a.m. Feb. 23 that someone smashed the window of his truck parked at his residence and stole saws, drills, drill bit set, nail gun, tool boxes with miscellaneous tools, wrenches, levels and hammers valued at $1,330.

* Tanya L. Whitehead, Bell Branch Road, Tallassee, reported at 9:20 a.m. Feb. 23 that WIC vouchers valued at $125 had been stolen from a truck parked at her residence.

* Shirley T. Morgan, Lane Drive, Friendsville, reported at 1:02 p.m. that prescription medication valued at $10 had been stolen from her residence.

* Nathan R. Glover, Self Hollow Road, Rockford, reported at 5:33 p.m. Feb. 23 that a computer, two PlayStations, DVDs, hiking pack and receiver valued at $2,249 had been stolen from his residence.

* Jonathan R. Swicegood, Walker School Road, Maryville, reported at 5:58 p.m. Feb. 23 that someone stole the license plate off his vehicle. Value of plate is $35.

Maryville

* Terri Hipps, Wrights Ferry Road, Louisville, reported at 8:48 p.m. Feb. 21 that her purse was stolen Feb. 16 at Wal-Mart in Alcoa. A women called her and told her she found the purse and wanted to return it. After Hipps got it back, she discovered a gas receipt for $30.55 in the purse.

* Helen B. Long, Forest Avenue, Maryville, reported at 8:30 a.m. Feb. 21 that three solar landscaping lights valued at $25 had been stolen from her front yard.

* Ashley N. Russell, Oak Grove Road, Madisonville, reported at 10:35 p.m. Feb. 22 that someone stole a CD player valued at $139 from an unsecured vehicle parked at Foothills Mall, Maryville.

* A BB&T corporate investigator informed Maryville police at 2:25 p.m. Feb. 23 that a 35-yer-old Maryville man used another name at Regions Bank to make a deposit into his BB&T account using an ATM machine, according to the police report. Then he wrote himself a check for that same amount using his BB&T checking account. He received the money before it was discovered there were insufficient funds to cover the deposit from Regions Bank. He did this several times beginning Jan. 30. The report states he defrauded the bank of $3,358. Legal options were explained to the bank investigator.

Vandalism

Maryville

* Lois C. Cooper, Williamson Chapel Road, Maryville, reported at 7 a.m. Feb. 20 that two tires on her vehicle had been cut and her vehicle scratched. Damage to car due to scratches was estimated at $600.

* Robert T. Dillard, Sir Edwards Lane, Maryville, reported at 11:40 p.m. Feb. 20 that while his son was driving along Carpenters Grade Road near Cochran Road someone in a passing vehicle threw a blunt object, hitting the windshield of his vehicle and causing it to crack. Damage was estimated at $400.

Damaged property

Blount County

* Someone ran into a natural gas line with a vehicle at 1:15 p.m. Feb. 20 at La Lupita Mexican Store, 2700 E. Broadway Ave., Maryville. The line was broken below the meter and could not be shut off without digging. Blount County Fire Department responded to the call, along with Atmos Energy personnel.

Domestic violence

Alcoa

* An Alcoa woman reported at 3:20 a.m. Feb. 24 that she and her 40-year-old father argued and he was causing a disturbance at her residence. She said she told him to leave and was removing his belongings when he pushed her. She said she struck him, then he choked her, pushed her to the floor and began punching her in the head. According to the officer's report, the woman had a mark on her face and her daughter, who was present during the altercation, gave a similar account of the assault. The man was arrested on a charge of domestic violence with assault and a Knox County charge of contempt of court.

Maryville

* Jessica R. Johnson, Mentor Road, Louisville, reported at 4:17 p.m. Feb. 23 that she was informed of an inheritance. The Nigerian man who informed her requested money to process her inheritance. According to the police report, she told the man she didn't have the money and he sent her a $5,000 check. She deposited the money and sent $3,600 to the man at a Nigerian address. Her local bank then notified Johnson that the check she deposited was counterfeit.

* Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Matthew Disney was working in the local Tennessee Department of Safety Drivers License Testing Center, 318 Home Ave., Maryville, at 7:50 p.m. Feb. 23 when he heard someone attempting to gain entry through the front door area, according to a police report. Disney reported he then heard a loud banging noise from the side of the building. When he investigated, the person trying to break in was gone but there were pry marks on the side door.

Traffic

Blount County

* Wanda S. Davis, South Cedar Street, Maryville, was driving east on East Lamar Alexander Parkway at Rocky Branch Road at 6:31 a.m. Feb. 23 when a white van pulled into her path from Rocky Branch Road. She swerved to try and miss the van, went into a slide and overturned in the median. The van fled from the scene. Davis, 33, was taken by private vehicle to Blount Memorial Hospital where she was treated and released.

Animal Shelter

Maryville Animal Shelter, 426 Home Ave., Maryville, which also serves Alcoa and Blount County, is open 1 to 4:30 p.m. Monday, 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Animals will be put to sleep on the date indicated unless someone calls for them and pays fees and board bills due.
