Bredesen: Grants approved for McGhee Tyson
Gov. Phil Bredesen announced Thursday that aeronautics grants in the amount of $2,964,064 have been approved for McGhee Tyson Airport.
Funds from these aeronautics grants will be used to install terminal lighting controls, terminal window film, the rehabilitation of the Alcoa Highway entrance sign, improvement to west surface Lot B, and reconditioning of the surface of the northbound Alcoa Highway Bridge.
“Our airports are a vital piece of Tennessee’s transportation network,” Bredesen said in a press release. “I can’t stress enough the importance of not only maintaining these facilities, but also making sure they can continue to serve the changing needs of their communities. I’m pleased to support continued growth at McGhee Tyson Airport.”
The grants are made available through the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s Aeronautics Division.
