Reception set for director of Education Initiative

Alcoa Inc., a strategic funding partner of the Blount Education Initiative, will host a reception for newly named Executive Director Bonny Millard Thursday at the Blount County Public Library.
The Education Initiative’s goal is to make education the community’s No. 1 priority through public awareness and communication. The reception will give the public an opportunity to meet and talk with Millard, who will lead the Initiative’s day-to-day efforts.
The Initiative is governed by a group of professionals who want to thank the businesses that have agreed to be partners by providing funding. Millard started her new position in November. BEI’s office is located at the Blount County Chamber of Commerce, 201 S. Washington St., Maryville. The reception is from 4:30 -5:30 p.m. in the library’s Sharon Lawson Room.
