Article published Jan 30, 2008 Training available for local nonprofit groups
From Staff and Wire Reports
Community nonprofit organizations have the chance to learn from a local fundraising veteran in a series of workshops in coming weeks. Fundraising coach Sandy Rees, a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), will present a variety of workshops and tele-seminars on various aspects of fundraising.
The workshop schedule includes:
Grant writing 101, Jan. 31
Creating newsletters that donors actually read, Feb. 26
Deepening donor relationships through donor acknowledgement, March 26
The tele-seminar schedule includes:
Strategic planning basics, Feb. 19
Fundraising on a shoestring, Feb. 28
Ten responsibilities of nonprofit boards, March 11
Top-10 tips for fundraisers, March 19
Rees was recently approved by CFRE International to provide qualified continuing education credits through her training for those seeking CFRE certification or recertification.
“There aren’t many training opportunities for nonprofits available in our area”, said Rees. “My goal is to provide that chance for folks who want to learn.”
Rees has been involved in fundraising and consulting with local nonprofit organizations for the past nine years. Her experience includes building fundraising capacity, strengthening boards, and strategic planning. She said she has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the organizations she serves — including Knox Area Rescue Ministries and Second Harvest Food Bank.
There is no registration deadline, but seating is limited and is only available until filled.
The cost is $39 for each workshop and $19 for each tele-seminar. Sessions are in Lenoir City and will be at First National Bank, 257 U.S. Highway 321 in front of Wal-Mart.
All workshops begin at 9 a.m. and end at 11:30 a.m. Tele-seminars can be reached from any phone with a long distance connection. Full details and registration information is available at www.sandyrees.com.
