Breaking News: Maryville College withdraws request for rezoning of Ruby Tuesday Lodge
By Rick Laney
of The Daily Times Staff
Maryville College withdrew its request to rezone the area around Ruby Tuesday Lodge Thursday morning, halting — or at least delaying — plans for the lodge to open to the general public as a hotel and restaurant.

The Maryville Planning Commission was scheduled to consider the college’s request to rezone the property in the Maryville College Woods from Residential to Central Community at its meeting March 17.

Wednesday afternoon, faculty members, students and administrators met at Maryville College to discuss the rezoning. The request was withdrawn today.

Gary Doyle, the manager of Ruby Tuesday Lodge, said he believes the delay will provide the necessary time for Ruby Tuesday, Maryville College and those who live near the campus to discuss the plans and answer questions about the rezoning.
