An airplane that was having mechanical problems landed safely at McGhee Tyson Airport today.

The plane was traveling from Washington, D.C., to Nashville, and was diverted to McGhee Tyson, airport spokeswoman Becky Huckaby said.

The plane landed at 3:22 p.m. and Huckaby said the airplane had no trouble landing and there were no injuries. Firefighters, police officers and emergency personnel were on scene in the case of an emergency.

Morgan Durrant, spokesperson for PSA Airways, said Flight No. 2489 was a PSA Airways plane, which flies under US Airways Express. The plane was a CRJ200 and was carrying 40 passengers and three crew members.

Durrant said once the plane landed, it "wasn't able to taxi the passengers to the airport gate," and the passengers were being taken by bus to the gate. He said the passengers were then being taken by bus to Nashville.
