Knox County Public Library's popular outdoor movie series has gone to the dogs. Today, the annual movie series opens on World's Fair Park with "Babe, The Gallant Pig" (G), and Fido is cordially invited.
The 1995 Oscar winning film is the delightful story of a runt pig that gets confused about his role in the world. As best friends with Fly, the sheepdog, Babe learns the fine art of herding sheep with unexpected results.
Pre-show entertainment, provided by PetSafe, will begin at 7:30 p.m. and includes an exhibition of agility and derring-do by man's best friend. Make sure to check out product demonstrations and giveaways by PetSafe Village and Invisible Fence. An interactive public art project will be presented by U.S. Cellular. The movie is expected to begin around 8:30 p.m.
Dogs should come with their best manners and their fanciest leashes. A pet-free area will be available. Movie-goers should bring blankets or lawn chairs. Food vendors include hot dogs by Dave's Dog House and Rainbow Ice. Picnics are welcome.
Upcoming movies include: "Jurassic Park" on Sept 12 and "Sixteen Candles" on Sept 19. For more information, go to www.knoxlib.org
