Pharmacy fire ruled electrical
A fire investigator with the Blount County Sheriff's Office has determined the source and cause of a fire that damaged a Maryville pharmacy on Friday.

The fire at Village Pharmacy, 2541 E. Broadway Ave., was electrical and started on the outside of the building at the weather head, according to Marian O'Briant, Blount County Sheriff's information officer. Foul play has been ruled out.

The fire was reported at about 5:22 a.m. in the older Village Pharmacy building, which was in one of three sections of the building, said Blount County Fire Chief Doug McClanahan.

Village Pharmacy was set to move into a new building that weekend and the building that caught fire was scheduled to be torn down this week. No injuries were reported.

The pharmacy's insurance company is handling any issues involving controlled substances in the building that caught fire, O'Briant said.Lost Cajuns benefit planned
