Four people were injured in a two-vehicle crash today on Hunt Road near McGhee Tyson Boulevard.

Alcoa Police Traffic Safety Officer Rodney Wilson said the crash occurred at 11:01 a.m.

Edford Hooper, 75, Louisville Road, Louisville, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Colorado west on Hunt Road and Sharon A. Vantuyl, 49, Maryville Mobile Home Park, Maryville, was driving a 2005 Nissan Altima east on Hunt Road.

.“(Vantuyl), for an unknown reason, left the roadway and struck the guardrail on the right side,” Wilson said

Wilson said Vantuyl either over corrected or her vehicle ricocheted off the guardrail. Her Nissan traveled back to the left into Hooper’s lane of travel, where the vehicles collided.

Vantuyl and a passenger in her vehicle, Eva L. Rathbone, 87, Self Hollow Road, Rockford, were both taken by Rural/Metro Ambulance Service to University of Tennessee Medical Center. Hospital staff was unable to provide a condition on Vantuyl because she was still being evaluated and Rathbone was in stable condition.Citations pending
Edford Hooper and a passenger in his vehicle, Michael Hooper, 51, also of Louisville Road, were both taken by Rural/Metro Ambulance Service to Blount Memorial Hospital. Both were treated and released.

Wilson said all occupants of both vehicles were wearing seat belts and air bags were deployed in both vehicles.

Nobody was cited at the scene but Wilson said citations are pending.
