A Sevierville man was arrested Tuesday after leading police on a chase through Townsend and Walland.
Steven Andrew Justus, 23, was charged with felony evading arrest, felony reckless endangerment and driving on a suspended drivers license.
Townsend Patrolman Frank Shearl clocked Justus driving over 70 miles per hour on East Lamar Alexander Parkway in Townsend at 3 p.m. Tuesday, according to Townsend Police Chief Ronnie Suttles,Shearl attempted a traffic stop, but Justus sped up and stayed on U.S. 321 westbound until he got to Foothills Parkway in Walland, where he then turned around and came back east to Townsend, Suttles said.
Justus then went around a traffic block Suttles had set up in Townsend, crossed the one-lane concrete bridge at Kinzel Springs onto Old Walland Highway traveling west.
He was later stopped at a traffic block set up by Shearl and a Blount County deputy near the intersection of Old Walland Highway and East Millers Cove Road in Walland.
Justus was jailed on $11,000 bond pending an appearance at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Blount County General Sessions Court.
