Gas leak closes section of Williams Mill Road

Blount County Highway Department workers were clearing out a tile at 3505 Williams Mill Road at 9:48 a.m. today when they hit a natural gas service line.

Williams Mill Road has been closed at Alcoa Trail and Triple Oak Street.

The Alcoa Police Department and Blount County Sheriff’s Office had blocked off Williams Mill at the request of Blount County Fire Department.Up to four houses had to be evacuated by Blount County Fire Department.

Atmos Energy workers are on the scene at this time.
