BOWSER, TROY L., 87, Louisville, died Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Blount Memorial Hospital. Arrangements will be announced by Smith Funeral and Cremation Service, Maryville.Vernon Wayne Cagle
Vernon Wayne Cagle, age 80, went to be with the Lord on June 19, 2009. He was a veteran of the Korean War, stationed in Germany. He retired from Robert Shaw Controls. Member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church, where he was an usher and worked with his wife in the Welcome Center. He is preceded in death by his parents, Deadrick and Grace Cagle; sisters Faye Lyke and Helen Matheny; brothers, Thomas and Kyle Cagle. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Juanita Best Cagle; daughters, Vicki McDaniel and husband Steve of Maryville, Cheryl West and husband Mike of Corryton; granddaughters, Kim McDaniel of Maryville, and Jessica West Mynatt and husband Dustin of Corryton; stepgrandsons, Kevin and Bryan West; brother, Don Cagle of Oak Ridge; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and staff on the fifth floor of Blount Memorial Hospital and the caregivers through hospice. Funeral services will be 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2009, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Charlie McNutt officiating. The interment service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Sherwood Memorial Gardens in Alcoa. Barbara Harris, 84, originally of Maryville, died in Lakeland, Fla, on May 30, 2009, of age-related causes. A graduate of Maryville High School, Barbara was a world traveler and voracious reader. She had lived in Florida for more than 15 years. Mrs. Harris is survived by two daughters, Jannice Cox, Eugene, Ore., and Kay Chapman, Atlanta, Ga., a son, Olin W. Dodson, Santa Fe. N.M.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. No services were held.Blaik H. Hickman
Blaik H. Hickman of Maryville was born April 8, 1952. Blaik's battle with cancer ended Friday, June 19, 2009. He is survived by his wife, Fran; his children, Whitney and Zachary; her children, Debbie Garrett and David Nixon; parents, Ray and Fern Hickman; brother, Frick Hickman and his wife Pam. He is also survived by many dearly loved family and friends, who made his life wonderful and whom he valued very much. A celebration of his life will be held at the Smithview Pavilion, 601 Smithview Drive, Maryville, on Monday, June 22, 2009. The event will be informal (shirt and shoes required -- B.H.), with a gathering of friends beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by a brief ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Respecting Blaik's wishes, in lieu of flowers, his family is requesting donations be made to either Friends of the Smokies or UT Hospice. William Ronald "Ronnie" Hoover, age 56, of Knoxville, passed away on June 20, 2009, at his home. A native of Murfreesboro, he attended high school in South Pittsburg and graduated from the College of Engineering at the University of Tennessee. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and most recently, a consulting engineer for Petro Hawk Petroleum in Oklahoma. Mr. Hoover is preceded in death by his father, Bill Hoover. He is survived by his wife, Jeannie Henderson Hoover; daughter, Virginia Hoover and her fiancé, Jesse Plunkett: son, Mathias Hoover, all of Knoxville; mother, Helen Nipper; brother, Terry Hoover (Vickie); two sisters, Nancy Hoover and Carol Tepper (Tim), all of Murfreesboro; four nephews, Allen Hoover, Bryan Hoover, and Matt Henderson, Dillon Henderson; three nieces, Kerri Mason, Kathryn Slayden Pardo, and Whitney Henderson; and stepmother, Martha Hoover of Clarksville. Pallbearers will include his brother Terry, first cousins Thomas Todd, Thomas Hoover, Donnie Johnson, David Hawk, and John Hawk. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Jennings and Ayers. Larry Allan Humphrey, 67, of Walland, passed away June 19, 2009, at home. He was preceded in death by father, Richard Humphrey; mother, Leona Dunlap Humphrey. Survivors include wife of 41 years, Betty Dykes Humphrey; daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Waylon Majors; sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Tammy Humphrey, Philip and Tina Humphrey, Larry and Robin Teffeteller; grandchildren, Cole and Raven Majors, Mason and Gavin Humphrey, and Cody Humphrey. Clyde Melvin Tipton, age 66, of Friendsville, passed away Friday, June 19, 2009, in Rockwood. He was a member of Friendsville United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Myrtle Garland Tipton; and an infant brother, George Lee Tipton. Survivors include his sisters and brothers-in-law, Gail and Walter Dunsmore and Suzann and Bill Boring, all of Maryville; sister, Lucy Jeno of Florida; brother and sister-in-law, Calvin and Libby Tipton of Friendsville; several nieces and nephews.
