Maryville history teacher recognized
From the East Tennessee Historical Society
Rob Kuban, an eighth grade American history teacher at Maryville Middle School, has been recognized by the East Tennessee Historical Society (ETHS) for his creative work to instill in his students an appreciation for the region's and nation's history.

The Teaching Excellence Award was presented June 2 at the ETHS Annual Meeting of the Membership at the East Tennessee History Center in downtown Knoxville.

"Mr. Kuban's creativity and passion for teaching is impressive," says Cherel Henderson, director of the East Tennessee Historical Society. "By working with his students to creative history projects, he is helping them to find the connection of history to their own lives."

Now in its 28th year, the East Tennessee Historical Society Awards of Excellence program recognizes projects across our 35-county region. Winning projects are chosen on the basis of quality and history content.
