Kenneth G. Abbott, age 69, of Maryville, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2009, at the family home. Mary "Neen" Bowman Arnold, age 87, formerly of Maryville, died June 27, 2009, at Alois Alzheimer Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. Ms. Arnold was preceded in death by her husband, Lee A. Arnold; parents, Essie Mae and John Frank Bowman; sister, Margie Milburn; brother, T.F. Bowman. Ms. Arnold was a registered nurse for many years at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church and the Iva Moore Sunday school class in Maryville. She was a graduate of Harriman High School and The University of Tennessee School of Nursing in Memphis. Survived by her sons, Lee Alan Arnold II and wife Nancy, John Arnold, both of Titusville, Fla.; daughter, Carol Arnold of Newport, Ky.; granddaughter, Brandi Van Booven; great-granddaughters, Addison and Avery; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 11 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2009, at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Rev. Amy Probst officiating. Interment service will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Eugene "Gene" Bright, age 88, of Maryville, passed away Monday, June 29, 2009, at his home. He was a member of Grace Memorial Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edd and Georgia Williams Bright; sisters, Gay Bright, Imogene Heaton, Annie Millsaps; brothers, Baxter, Ben and Kenneth Bright. Survivors include his wife, Anna Lue Bright; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Connie Bright of Maryville; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Richard Gibson of Knoxville, Susan and James Brooks of Maryville; grandchildren, April Eichholtz and husband Stephen and David Bright and wife Merideth, Benjamin Brooks, Daniel Brooks and wife Lauren, Katelyn Brooks, Kevin Bivens and wife Ami; great-grandchildren, Walker and Hunter Bivens, Elise Eichholtz; brother and sister-in-law, Allan and Barbara Bright of Maryville. Sarah Tennessee McInturff Bryant, age 90, of Maryville, passed away peacefully in her sleep, Saturday, June 27, 2009, at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Bryant; parents, Labe and Mary McInturff; brothers, Joe, Albert, and Otis; and sisters, Ilia Rhyne, Lucille McCampbell. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janey and Oscar Stillwell of Maryville; grandchildren, Liz and Rusty Rogers, Eddie and Marlene Irwin, Andy Irwin, Carolyn and David Nichols, and Heather Jarret; great-grandchildren, Jesse, Amanda, Maura, Shay, Jordan, Ashley, and Jace; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Leah Prater; and too many more friends to name. Pallbearers will be Eddie, Jordan, Andy, Jesse, Rusty, and David. A special thanks to all of the Caris Healthcare Nurses. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Miller Funeral Home. Edward Patterson Deere, age 89, of Maryville, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2009, at Wellington Place. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Maryville, where he taught the High School Sunday School Class for 40 years. He was a retired Blount County Agriculture Extension Agent and received many awards while he was working, and was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas and Jack Deere; sisters, Evelyn Buck, and Patty Thompson. Survivors include his wife, Mabel England Deere of Maryville; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Libby Deere of Murfreesboro, Dr. Randy and Kathy Deere of Bowling Green, Ky.; grandchildren, Sarah Deere of Murfreesboro, Laura Deere of Houston, Texas, Lyndsey Deere and Andrew Deere of Bowling Green, Ky.; sister, Melba Sharp of Linden; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 30, from 1-2:30 p.m. at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with funeral services to follow at 2:30 p.m. with Dr. John Sharp and Rev. Trula Ann McGill-Midkiff, age 61, died Thursday, June 25, 2009, at The University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Md. Born Sept. 17, 1947, in Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Ollie (Parrott) and John Thomas. She was the wife of Douglas C. Midkiff; mother of Johnny Thomas; grandmother of Jessica; sister of Virginia Trydell, Clyde, William "Cotton," Fate, Fred, Willy, and the late George and Carl Thomas. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Midkiff worked for many years as a banking customer service representative. Visitation was at Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A., Laurel, Md., on Monday, June 29, 2009, where a service was held at 7:30 p.m. Interment private.
