Article published Jun 30, 2009 U.N. Treaty would limit parental rights
Dear Editor:
America is poised to adopt the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child, an international treaty. The Constitution states that all treaties are the "supreme law of the land." However, almost everyone is unaware of this ominous treaty and the proposed Parental Rights Amendment to the Constitution that will protect us from it.
If this treaty is passed, the laws of all 50 states regarding children and parents would be superseded by international law. Good parents would no longer be entitled to the legal presumption that they act in the best interest of their children. The government would have the authority to overrule all parents on any decision concerning the child if the government believed it could make a better decision.
The only thing we can do to protect our families is pass an amendment to the Constitution, only the Constitution can override treaties. The Parental Right Amendment has been introduced into the House of Representatives and needs public awareness and support. We cannot wait until our parental rights are demolished. This is not a small matter. We must act now, this issue is upon us. The organizations, which support this treaty, are backed by the United Nations, the federal government, the media and millions of dollars. Founding father, George Nicholas, stated "An enlightened people will never suffer what was established for their security to be perverted to an act of tyranny." Meaning, an enlightened, informed people will rise up and not allow the gove rnment to destroy their freedoms.
God gives rights. We can only try to protect and secure them. To read the amendment, learn more, sign the petition, join the fight and donate please go to ParentalRights.org. Big Brother is knocking at our door.
