Eugene "Gene" Bright, age 88, of Maryville, passed away Monday, June 29, 2009, at his home. Family and friends will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday at Axley Chapel Cemetery for the interment service. Robert L. Irwin, age 68, of Maryville, passed from this life on June 28, 2009. He is preceded in death by his father, Lester Irwin. Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Matthew and Connie Irwin and Tony and Tammy Irwin; mother, Katheryn Irwin; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Jerry, Ronnie and Kyle Irwin; sisters, Barbara Mullins and Molly Breeden. Robert was a caring and giving man. He will be sadly missed by his family and many wonderful and loving friends at Rite Stop (129) grocery. Lt. Colonel (Ret.) Kenneth Lannom Knight Sr., age 77, lost his long battle with cancer on Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at his home surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Born on July 16, 1931, in Milton, he moved to Nashville where he graduated from West High School after attending Howard School for 11 years. He was a pilot with the Tennessee Air National Guard with the 134th Air Refueling Wing and moved his family to Maryville in 1958. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Wilson and Alma Lannom Knight. He is survived by his children, his babies who he lived his life and fought his battle for, Linda Knight Hughes, Kenneth L. "Bud" Jr. and Chris Knight of Maryville, Ronald Wayne and Shelly Knight of Madisonville, Karen Knight Young, and David Alan and Janet Knight of Maryville; stepdaughter, Paula Mize Simerly of Maryville; grandchildren, Jason and Andrea Knight, Michael and Dena Knight, Kevin Knight, all of Maryville, Kellie Knight of Madisonville, Amber Young of Knoxville, Michael Young of Maryville, Crystal Knight of Maryville, and David Alan Sewell of Englewood; great-grandchildren, Chynna, Nola Blue and Ty Lannom Knight, and Sydney and Eden Knight, all of Maryville; sister, Wilarlie Knight Barto, and nieces, Becky Jewell and Debbie Barto, all of Dalton, Ga.; several cousins in Nashville; many friends; and very special friend, Lucy Ann Caldwell. The funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2009, at Miller Funeral Home, Cedar Chapel, Rev. Howard G. Olive officiating with interment to follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Snell Austin Mills, Jr., 75, died on Saturday, June 27, 2009, following a sudden illness. Family and friends will meet at 3 p.m. Thursday at Magnolia Cemetery for a graveside service with Rev. Lucille L. Simerly Tallent, age 81, of Maryville, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Bakers Creek Presbyterian Church and was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Zura Simerly; and sister, Margaret Baker. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Janice Tallent; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Jean and Bob Cagle of South Carolina, Dorothy and Wayne Robbins of Maryville, Mary June and Junior Clark of Maryville; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
