Wild turkey banquet planned July 18

Dear Editor:

I would like to take this opportunity to let you know how much the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) appreciates your commitment to our organization.

It is that time of year again. The Little T Longbeards are planning their upcoming banquet. The 2009 banquet will be held on Saturday, July 18, at Green Meadow Country Club in Maryville. The banquet will start at 6 p.m. and dinner will start at 7:30 p.m. We will have live and silent auditions with beautiful prints, sculptures and home accent items that include artwork from artists such as Thomas Kinkade, Jack Paluh and Terry Redlin. We will also have several guns to play games with, including our 2009 NWTF Gun of the Year, the brand-new Winchester Super X-3. We will also have one of the hottest and most difficult to get carry pistols on the market today, the Ruger LCP .380 caliber pistol. You don't want to miss these great items and this opportunity to support the fastest-growing conservation organization in the world today.

The committee is currently selling tickets and advertising space in our banquet program. If you or you know of someone that would like to advertise in our program, contact Lee Crisp at 865-742-2469 or Chris Russell at 865-548-7000. You can also contact Lee or Chris for tickets to the banquet. Please RSVP or get your tickets by July 13 so we can give the Country Club an accurate meal count.

While wild turkey restoration is nearing completion, the NWTF still has much work to do. Across North America, supporters are working to enhance habitat for wild turkeys and other wildlife while providing hunters with more opportunities and access to public and private land. In addition, NWTF volunteers and partners are introducing youth, women, and people with disabilities to the outdoors through special educational events.

The gobble of the wild turkey continues and the numbers grow because individuals, like you, realize the importance of conservation and the rewards of giving back to the outdoors that we love. Thank you for "Working for the Wild Turkey."

Sincerely,

Chris Russell, Local Chapter President
