From Staff Reports
Tennessee women’s basketball player Amber Gray is being transferred to a hospital near her hometown of Cincinnati after experiencing “post-operative complications” following shoulder surgery last week, team trainer Jenny Moshak said Thursday. The complications are “unrelated to her shoulder,” Moshak added.
Gray underwent arthroscopic surgery on her left shoulder July 2 to repair her posterior capsule and labrum. Drs. Greg Mathien and Russell Betcher, UT’s team orthopaedists, performed the operation.
“Amber had a successful shoulder surgery,” Moshak said in a press release. “However, she experienced some post-operative complications unrelated to her shoulder. At this time, she is still undergoing diagnostic testing and will require further rehabilitation. We have determined that the best course of action would be to transfer her to a local hospital near her hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio.”
Gray, a 6-foot-1 forward from West Chester, Ohio, injured her shoulder during a postseason practice. She played in 27 games last year, averaging 2.7 points in 7.6 minutes per game.
