Thieves strike at Porter Elementary
Copper thieves have struck again this time at a Blount County school.
An employee at Porter Elementary School, 4520 Wildwood Springs Road, Maryville, reported at 8:58 a.m. Thursday that thieves opened four air conditioning units and stole the copper coils inside.
Damage was estimated at $13,000.
Correction
In the June 22 edition, Raven Society Chair Kathleen Skinner was incorrectly quoted in an article about zoning regulations. The quote should have read: A key smart growth strategy is to promote residential density within urban growth areas, Skinner said. In fact, no tool is more important than increasing density of existing communities and new developments on city sewer.
