Breaking News: Overbey to oppose Finney for state senate

State Rep. Doug Overbey (R-Maryville) announced today his intention to seek the Republican nomination for the State Senate – 8th District, now held by Sen. Raymond Finney.

“This decision comes after seeking the advice and counsel of a lot of folks in Sevier and Blount counties and thoughtful consideration and prayer,” Overbey said.

Finney, also a Republican, is seeking re-election to the senate.

Rep. Overbey was elected to the House of Representatives in 2000 and recently began his eighth year of service in the General Assembly.
