The Raven Society will hold its annual meeting Sunday.
The meeting will feature speaker Bridget Jones, executive director of Cumberland Region Tomorrow, a nonprofit organization working to support and encourage quality growth in a 10-county region of Middle Tennessee.
CRT emphasizes improved planning and coordination between public and private sectors, with emphasis on land use, transportation and rural preservation.
“We need that here,” said Doug Gamble, secretary of the Raven Society. “We’re just trying to say it can be done.”
The public is invited to hear Jones give an overview of quality growth. The program will be held from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Blount County Public Library, Raven Society Chair Kathleen Skinner said.
“Quality of life is key to both our economic health and our personal well-being,” she said. “We know that high-quality communities do not just happen. They require thought, effort, vision, collaboration and commitment. By planning for growth and guiding it, we can keep and enhance our county’s economic health and also maintain our unique assets. Dr. Jones and Cumberland Region Tomorrow have extensive and successful experience helping communities in Middle Tennessee, and we are glad to have her share some of that experience with us.”
There will be a brief Raven Society business meeting following the presentation.
