The wait is over: Pellissippi State Technical Community College’s new Blount Center campus will be located on West Lamar Alexander Highway and Old Grey Ridge Road about 1.5 miles west of William Blount Drive.

Pellissippi State President Dr. Allen Edwards told The Daily Times Friday morning that the state had moved more quickly than expected and the college now owns the 39.5-acre property that fronts both sides of West Lamar Alexander Highway.

After considering six different Blount County locations, the college and its site selection committee narrowed the possibilities to two locations last September. In addition to the property the college purchased, Pellissippi State also considered a 30-acre property in Partnership Park South which had a price tag of $35,000 per acre ($1.05 million total).

The property the school purchased was listed at $35,000 per acre ($1.4 million total).

Edwards said, “We are very happy, very pleased and excited.”

Watch for more details in Saturday’s edition of The Daily Times.
