A fight over $20 between two men led to a stabbing on Six Mile Cemetery Road Wednesday morning.
According to a Blount County Sheriff’s Office report, the 42-year-old stabbing victim was treated and released from the hospital.
Deputies responded to a report of a stabbing at 1:26 a.m. They were told the victim was located at a Blockhouse Road residence, although the incident took place on Six Mile Cemetery Road.
Upon arrival at the Blockhouse Road home, deputies spoke to a 42-year-old Maryville man who was complaining of cuts on his side, hand and groin area. He reported that he was stabbed by an unknown person while at the corner of Montvale Road and Six Mile Road. He kept saying, “he” stabbed me, but would not tell deputies who “he” was.
The man was taken by Rural/Metro Ambulance Service to Blount Memorial Hospital. In the meantime, the Blount County Communications Center received a call from another person involved in the incident, and dispatchers asked deputies to respond to Six Mile Cemetery Road.
Deputies discovered while on Six Mile Cemetery Road that the man who had been stabbed and his wife had been in that area visiting a 45-year-old man and his girlfriend.
“At some point, an argument broke out over $20 that (the 42-year-old man) thought that (the 45-year-old man) owed him,” the report said.
The older man told the younger man that he had already been repaid, but the 42-year-old disagreed, the report said. The argument became heated and the older man and his girlfriend asked the younger man and his wife to leave.
The wife walked out of the residence, but the 42-year-old man was accused of grabbing the other man’s girlfriend by the throat, throwing her out of the way and going after her boyfriend. During a scuffle between the two men, the older man got a knife and allegedly stabbed the younger man several times.
The girlfriend was able to break up the fight between the two men. The wife then drove her husband to a friend’s house on Blockhouse Road.
The 42-year-old man was treated for his injuries at Blount Memorial Hospital and released.
