Reader ready to guard residence

Dear Editor:

I cannot believe that the men of Blount County are going to stand by and watch while ruffians terrorize an 80-year-old lady who lives alone just because she stood up to the neighbors for violating zoning law. All she had to do was roll over and let her neighbor spoil the peace and pastoral beauty of our county for profit.

But, she did not.

Where are the real men of Blount County? How long are we going to allow the women to fight the battles for the noble and just causes of Blount County? We have stood by and let nabobs and politicians openly trash the women then call and secretly apologize. Enough is enough. I, for one, am going to volunteer to pull the first night shift to guard the poor woman and her house from the ruffians. With 120,000 residents of Blount County surely I will not be on guard duty alone.

Perhaps there are a few retired Marines around who have fought for the rights of people to have peace in their homes. Maybe they will volunteer to help. Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of the persecuted.
