Minon Auda Hamm
Minon Auda Hamm, PhD, born on November 9, 1926 in Berrien County, Michigan, died Friday, April 4, 2008, at the age of 81. She was predeceased by her son, Wayne Hamm, and is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Lewis Sommerville, grandchildren Ryan and Jennifer Colburn, Cort and Anca Sommerville, great-grandchild Jenelle Colburn, and brother and sister-in-law Wayne and Ligia Hiebert. Minon served as a missionary for the Seventh-Day Adventist Church on the island of Aruba and in Colombia, South America from 1953-1964. She earned her PhD in English in 1975 from Vanderbilt University. She taught English at Southern Missionary College in Collegedale, Tennessee, and was a professor and department chair of the humanities division at Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska. After retirement she resided with Lewis and Carol in Maryville, TN and was an active member of the Maryville Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She loved the Lord and enjoyed corresponding with friends, gardening, literature, puzzles, classical music, time with her pets, and the great outdoors. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Retha Jean Johnson
Retha Jean Johnson, 76, of Maryville, died Friday, April 4, 2008 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Mountain View Church of God. She was a day care worker, and worked in the Children's ministry of St. Johns' Methodist Church on Broadway. She is survived by Son and daughter-in-law: Doyle and Pam Hart, Grandchildren: Arron and Chelsea Hart, Trustin and Alex DeLeon, and Nicholas Hart, Five Great-Grandchildren, Seven Brothers and Four Sisters, Longtime friends: Richard and Nancy Guerin. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday April 7, 2008 at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Delmer Queen officiating. William Cawood Moyers
William Cawood Moyers, age 68, of Maryville, went to be with his Lord on Friday, April 4, 2008 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Walland United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Hiwassee College and the University of Tennessee. He retired from ALCOA after 31 years of service. Preceded in death by: Parents, Dewey & Lena Moyers; Brother, Roger Earl Moyers of Speedwell, TN. Survivors include: Wife Ginny Moyers; Son, David Moyers wife RuthAnn stepson Tré; Son, Daniel Moyers & wife Trudy; Granddaughter, Victoria Moyers; Sisters, Dorothy Brooks and Norma Foster; Step family, Matthew Hinderliter & wife Betsy & daughter, Laurel and Katie Carter & husband Richard son, Ethan. Memorial service will be at 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 7, 2008 at Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Eddie Collier officiating.
