County expenses cause concern

Dear Editor:

Will you look at who is calling the kettle black! Mr. Mayor we are concerned about the expenses and waste of this county. You can call us whoever you want to title us. I support the people that belong to these concerned citizens groups. They are working for the taxpayers, the seniors, the low income, the children, the widows, etc.

Who are you working for, Mr. Mayor sir?

I believe you are the cave man if anyone is. In fact, I wonder if you have not been bitten by a bat.

You have talked a lot since taking office about you will not be dictated to. I can understand that. You are the dictator! You have proven that with this fluoride issue.

If I were Mr. Durante or anyone for the three board members, I would call your hand on trying to take away my vote. I would vote the way the customer wanted the water to be and my own convictions and if you terminated me, I would go as straight (after getting my hat, purse and coat) as I could go, to a good Knoxville lawyer and take out a lawsuit because you denied me my right to vote, my choice.

I’m a 77 1/2 year old, old woman but I will stand up for some of the men in this county since they will not back you in a corner.

You are trying to anger the people that should have stopped a lot of this so-called elite style, government 20 years ago.

Is it of any interest to you how hard it is for some people now to just feed their families? Are you concerned for the people of this county that are old and sick? Do you realize there are lots of people that did not have warm homes this past winter? Do you care anything at all about what fluoride can do to a person’s health? Educate yourself on fluoridation as so many of the people that are fighting it have done such as what Linda King and Janet Lail have done for us. And others, but I do not know them by name.

Mr. Mayor, sir you labeled Linda King a person that had not received enough attention as a youngster. You appear to me that you are starved for respect. You are demanding it by what you have said and done to Mr. Durante and the three board members. Mr. Mayor, sir you get respect by earning it. Let us respect you and show you respect by working for us instead of pushing us farther into debt and being so unfair to us.

The Constitution states — “We the people — not, “We the elected.” Does that make any sense? It does to me!

Sincerely,
Merle J. Handley
