James Tompkins Arnold

M. Wayne Carter

M. Wayne Carter, age 60, of Maryville, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church, a veteran of United States Army and a member of the Mt. Vernon Masonic Lodge #22 in Athens, Ga. He was currently employed by Airport Auto Auction. He previously worked for IJ Company, Capitol Foods and Sysco for many years. His passion was cooking and serving people. Mr. Carter helped out with special needs adults. He was a devoted Christian man and a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Cecile Carter. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Brown Carter; sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher Wayne and Ashley Towns Carter of Athens, Ga.; Michael Todd and Stacy Jones, of Maryville; son, Craig Benton Jones, of Maryville; daughter and son-in-law, Casey Carter Evans and Ted Evans, Jr. of Watkinsville, Ga.; grandchildren, Gavin Walker Jones, Andie-Marie Jones, MacGuire Jones, Tyler Wade Matteson, Matthew Gibson Carter; sister and brother-in-law, Amelia and Paul Stephenson, of Athens, Ga; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Funeral service will be at 7 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2008 at Madison Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Glenn Cummings officiating. Interment will be at 12 noon on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Walter Grubb, Al Grubb, Mike McGuire, John Douglas, Trent Long, and Brad McAmis. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Madison Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund, 1918 Madison Avenue, Maryville, TN 37804. Warren H. Gladden

Warren H. Gladden, age 87, peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, May 5, 2008 at 9:55 p.m. at Colonial Hills Nursing Center. Amy Louise Copeland Jackson

Amy Louise Copeland Jackson, age 87 of Maryville, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was the only living Charter member of Everett Hills Baptist Church and was a 50 year member of Mt. View and Mary Blount Chapters of the Eastern Star where she had served as Chaplain and Worthy Matron. She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Jackson; parents, Harvey and Gertrude Copeland. Survivors include her daughters, Kaye Winters and husband Tony of Franklin, Tenn.; Marilyn Atkins of Maryville; grandchildren, Kimberly Atkins Hembree and husband Kevin of Maryville, Lorie Atkins Stillwell and husband Floyd of Maryville, Timothy B. Winters of Franklin, Tenn.; Allison K. Winters of Nashville, Tenn.; great grandchildren, Caleb Hembree, Cassie Hembree, Daniel Stillwell, Rachel Stillwell; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Philip Dougan, Jackson, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews; other family members, David and Jane Atkins. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John Franklin and Rev. Ted Witchen officiating. The interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Juanita Law

Juanita Law, age 75, of Maryville passed away Thursday, May 8, 2008 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a lifetime member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her parents, Judge and Sophia Law; brothers, C. G. and wife Rozella Law; Bob and wife Evelyn Law; brother, Coll Law; and sister, Carmalita Turner. Survivors include sister, Alma Law Coulter; brothers, Frank Law, and Keith and wife Ruth Law; sister-in-law, Lillian Law; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008 in the Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Greg Long officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 11:15 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery for the interment.
