Woman charged with forgery, identity theft
A 25-year-old Maryville woman was arrested Friday after allegedly forging about $18,000 worth of checks over a three-week period recently.
Ashley Brooke Gardner, 25, Smoky View Circle, Maryville, was charged with forgery and identity theft in conjunction with the allegations.
Maryville Police Chief Tony Crisp said Gardner allegedly stole a number of checks and forged them during March and April under different names -- which is why she was also charged with identity theft.
She is currently being held in lieu of bonds totaling $25,000 pending a 9 a.m. May 16 hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court.
