His fingers don’t work as well as they used to, but age hasn’t completely robbed Ralph Stanley of his ability to make music. He may not play the banjo in his signature “Stanley style” — in fact, he may not play much banjo at all these days — but the man still knows his way around a song. And as one of the pioneers of bluegrass, he knows that the one instrument he still commands is one that has long helped define the genre — his voice. At 8 tonight, you can catch Stanley and his band, the Clinch Mountain Boys, at World Grotto, 16 Market Square in downtown Knoxville. It’s an intimate show in an intimate setting, and the group will perform a 75-minute set with encore. Because of the limited number of tickets (only 200 will be sold), they’re $60 apiece. Call 226-2962 for more information.
