Supreme Court censures attorney ... and more

The Tennessee Supreme Court has entered an order publicly censuring Maryville attorney Charles David Deas of Maryville and ordering him to make restitution to a former client.

After the Board of Professional Responsibility filed a petition for discipline against Deas, he submitted a conditional guilty plea agreeing to a public censure and restitution for neglect and failure to communicate with a client.

The censure declares Deas' conduct to be improper but does not limit his right to practice law.

Mobility plan hearing set

Care about how we get around? Then plan to attend a public workshop sponsored by the Knoxville Regional Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) on June 4 at 6 p.m. at the Blount County Public Library.

The TPO is gathering input on its long-range transportation plan, or Mobility Plan. The plan features long-and short-term strategies to create an integrated transportation system through vehicles, bicycling, walking, transit, air and rail.

The plan is not about roads and cars, according to a TPO news release, it's about "developing goals and priorities to help our region realize a vision of connected sustainable communities with a variety of mobility choices."

For more information, call the TPO at 215-2500 or visit on the Web at www.knostrans.org.
