Fire struck the offices of The Daily Times today. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze, but the building did receive significant damage.
Blount County 9-1-1 received a call about the fire at 3:18 p.m. and the Maryville Fire Department responded.
Pallets on the loading dock in the rear of the building apparently caught fire, though the cause has not yet been determined. Fire damaged the rear wall of the building, encroaching into the windows of the offices of the publisher and the director of human resources.
Publisher Max Croster was transported to the Blount Memorial Hospital. Comptroller Danny Williamson was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
