UT softball team finishes 14th ... and more

STARKVILLE, Miss. -- The Tennessee Lady Vols softball team completed the 2008 campaign ranked No. 14 nationally in the final USA Today/National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll. The Lady Vols registered a 50-16 overall record, posting the program's fifth consecutive 50-plus win season, while advancing to the NCAA regionals for the fifth straight year.
UT has now been rated in each of the last 75 USA Today/NFCA polls dating back to the initial listing of the 2004 campaign.
National champion Arizona State (66-5) finished as the unanimous choice at No. 1 following its undefeated run through the annual Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City, Okla. WCWS runner-up Texas A M (57-10) held down the No. 2 slot, with Southeastern Conference champion Florida (70-5) sitting in third. Alabama (58-8) and UCLA (51-9) rounded out the top five.
Spaces remain for MC camp
A limited number of spots still are available for the Maryville College boys basketball camp on June 16-19. Registration will be June 16 from 7:30-9 a.m. in the Cooper Athletic Center lobby. Cost for the camp, which runs from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. each day, is $115, or $140 with daily lunches provided.
