Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen was in Knoxville Tuesday for a ceremonial bill signing, but wound up performing a different kind of ceremony: a wedding.
After signing the Long-Term Care Community Choices Act of 2008 at the John T. O'Conner Senior Center in Knoxville, State Sen. Tim Burchett and Allison Beaver surprised him, asking that he lead them in their marriage vows. Burchett and Beaver made the request because their wedding planned for September had grown so large they decided to keep it simple and get it over with. Burchett said his wife had the idea and they plan to hold a party on the originally planned wedding date.
